BREAKING NEWS: Cougar with Child

That Cougar is Sara!  My wonderful wife turns the BIG 30 this weekend.  Not only are we celebrating that news, but we just found out today that my Mom is showing good enough progress to potentially go home on Monday!  She has been extremely sick this week, so this was a big surprise for me.  It made me so happy to hear this news.

I regret to inform you that my Baby's Mama has found a new love interest.  His name is Snoogle.  He is a body pillow that my Mom gave Sara for her birthday and has quickly become her new spooning partner.  Our boxer Sampson has been spooning with me to help me fill this void.  Truthfully though, the Snoogle has been great and allows Sara to start sleeping on her side much more comfortably.

We don't have new doctor news this week, but things seem to moving along really well.  Other than the headaches and Sara fighting off a cold this week, she has been a champion.  Stacey and JJ are on a trip to Mexico this week which means we acquired two more dogs (one being a rambunctious puppy) to take care of.  Wednesday morning I carried the puppy down the stairs (she is still afraid to climb down them) and she proceeded to urinate all over my work suit.  Things have been a little better since that episode, but still a bit chaotic.

We have lots of friends and family coming to Indy this weekend for Sara's Birthday Party, so I have been busy trying to get everything done in preparation.  Should be a blast!

As for Baby Wiencken, here is what has been happening in his/her world this week...

Baby is about the size of a plum and is clocking in at a 1/2 oz. (quickly catching Uncle Drew in weight).  Fingernails have now completely formed and the baby's face has taken more shape.  His/Her fingers will soon begin to open and close, the mouth will start making sucking movements, and nerve cells are multiplying rapidly.

I can't wait to see what this Wiencken looks like!

Week 11 Already!

Hey Everybody!

This has definitely been a bittersweet week. We have experienced a mix of emotions with Mom going back in to the hospital to start round 2 of treatment.  Sara and I had another positive doctor's visit this week as well.  The stress of hospital life is tough on our family in Terre Haute, and we try to stay as connected as possible from Indy.

This was my favorite Valentine's Day to date, because it was the first one that I got to hear our baby's heartbeat!  Tuesday morning, Sara and I went to the doctor together for a visit that only lasted about 15 minutes.  There was no ultrasound this time, but Dr. Ertel did use a doppler and let us hear the audio of the baby.  The heartbeat was still really strong (160 bpm), and the baby was moving around like Jackie Chan from Rush Hour 2.  We even got to hear the baby kick a couple of times.

Here is what is happening with Tiddlywink in Week 11...

Baby is now the size of a lime.  On the baby's head, the ears are moving to the side of the head (not sure where they were before that).  It is already busy kicking and stretching and the reproductive organs are becoming more distinguished.  In about 8 weeks we will get to find out the sex!

Here are my beautiful wife's pictures from Week 11:

We love you all and will update again this weekend!

Week Nine & Ten!

Hello Friends and Family,

We are sorry we are a week behind on our posts.  In an effort to catch-up, this will be a 2-for-1 entry!  As of this past Saturday, February 4, we are in the double digit weeks of pregnancy!

Sara is still handling everything like a champ.  She still has some fatigue and nauseousness, but all in all, she is doing great.  She has been attending a lot of different classes at her gym (spinning, Zumba, step aerobics) which has helped her energy levels a lot.  I have been working on my 12 oz. curls.

So here is what has been happening to Lil' Tiddlywink in Week 9 and Week 10...

Week 9:  He/She is nearly an inch long and is about the size of a grape/olive.  The baby is looking more human every day, and all of the essential body parts are accounted for (hopefully the dong too).  The baby has tiny earlobes and the mouth, eyes, and nose are more distinct.  His/her fingers and toes have now taken shape as well.

Week 10:  Our baby is now the size of a kumquat and has completed the most critical portion of development.  This is the beginning of the fetal period, a time when tissues and organs rapidly mature.  He/she is forming nails on his/her fingers and toes as well as teeth buds.  The baby's hands are flexed at the wrist and folded over it's heart.

Our baby attending it's first Super Bowl festivities while the event was hosted here in Indy.  We took in the sights over the weekend and tailgated (alcohol free for Sara) before and during the game in a parking lot near the stadium.  We can't wait to tell Tiddlywink how he/she was in the middle of the action one day.

We are very excited about our upcoming doctor's appointment on Tuesday at 8:30 (Valentine's Day morning).  We will keep you all updated on the newest developments early next week.  Wish us luck!

We love you all!!!
